DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's basketball program held its fifth annual One-on-One event with Drake faculty and staff members and the public Thursday evening at the Knapp Center.
Each student-athlete on the team was paired with a Drake faculty or staff member and introduced to each other at a dinner prior to the event. The dinner gave each pair a chance to share personal information and stories before introducing one another at a short program for the public on the floor of the Knapp Center.
Prior to the program the team hosted a dessert reception for the public on the upper concourse of the Knapp Center. After enjoying numerous delicious desserts from several, generous local businesses the action moved to the court for the program.
The program allowed the faculty and the student-athletes to introduce each other to the crowd. The duos used fun, creative ways to present each other and give the audience a chance to get to know the student-athletes in a different way than what they see out on the basketball court. The evening's program ended with fifth-year head coach
Jennie Baranczyk at the podium, where she thanked the fans, donors, staff and faculty for all they do support the program and the university. Baranczyk praised her student-athletes as they get set for the upcoming season, where the Bulldogs are expected to achieve big goals and dreams on the basketball court.

Drake hosts Winona State Nov. 1 in an exhibition contest at the Knapp Center with tipoff set for 7 p.m. Following one more exhibition game at the Knapp Center on Nov. 5 against MidAmerica Nazarene, the Bulldogs open the regular season Nov. 11 at North Dakota.
