ST. LOUIS – Senior Lizzy Wendell (Blue Springs, Mo.) of the Drake University women's basketball team was selected the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Nov. 11-13, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
 
Wendell poured in 34 points in Drake's 99-91 season-opening win at North Dakota on Nov. 11. Wendell, the MVC Preseason Player of the Year, made 14-of-23 shots against the Fighting Hawks including knocking down a pair of three-pointers on the way to her eighth-career 30-plus scoring game. She just missed a double-double with nine rebounds and added two assists in 32 minutes.
 
Wendell's big game extended her impressive double-figure scoring streak to 79-straight games, a streak that started during her freshman campaign. This is her 10^th career MVC Player of the Week award.
 
Drake visits former MVC-rival Creighton on Thursday at 7 p.m.
