Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) of the Drake University women's basketball team was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for the second-straight week, the league office announced Monday, Dec. 26.
Hittner averaged 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 55.5 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from behind the three-point line in Drake's two games at the Tulane Classic last week.
Hittner opened the tournament with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and one steal against Auburn. She followed that performance with a career-high 19 points behind 7-of-11 shooting, including hitting a career-high four three-pointers, along with nine rebounds, four assists and two steals in the win over Eastern Washington.
On the season, Hittner is scoring 12.7 points and averaging 6.3 rebounds per game.
This is the second career MVC Newcomer of the Week award for Hittner, who claimed her first on Dec. 19.
