MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The Drake University women's golf completed the first day of the Bulldog Invitational on Monday as the Bulldogs are in fifth-place through 18 holes.
"We saw a lot of good things today. There were some slow starts and not our best ball striking, but we remained focused and finished the round strong," Drake head coach
Rachael Pruett said. "As a team, we continued to improve and are right on the cusp of breaking through."
The Bulldogs recorded a 316 and just nine strokes behind Wofford and Appalachian State who are tied for second with a score of 307.
Just a single stroke separates Drake's top-three scorers, as sophomore
Madison Glennie fired a 77 (+5), good for tied for 11
th, to lead the team. Freshmen
Sophie Hill and
Grace Dunn each carded a 78 and are tied for 17
th place. Freshman
Adrianna Elliott recorded an 83, while senior
Katie Clausen shot an 84. Sophomore
Brooke Miller rounded out the team's effort with an 85.
The Bulldogs will play the final round of the Bulldog Invitational on Tuesday at 9 a.m. EST.
