TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Drake University rowing team closes its spring break training trip in Tuscaloosa, Ala., with a series of races against Alabama on Saturday on the Black Warrior River.
Drake has spent the past week training for its upcoming spring season. The week in Alabama has allowed the Bulldogs to get out on the water in warmer temperatures. However, Drake was blessed with some unusually warm temperatures in late February and early March in Des Moines, Iowa before it left for the trip that allowed the Bulldogs to get early water time in preparation for Alabama.
"Things are going well down here," said head coach
Charlie DiSilvestro. "The team is really coming together and becoming a family. They have gotten faster and stronger. I know they are excited to line up and see a different color of uniform and race another team instead of themselves."
The Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide will compete head-to-head in four races on Saturday with 2
nd varsity 4, varsity 8, second varsity 8 and varsity 4 races on the Black Warrior River.
Drake travels to Kansas next Saturday to take on the Jayhawks.
