Drake Relays Presented By Hy-Vee Announces Additional Prize Money For Three Field Events

Jumpers to 'Leap For Loot' and throwers to 'Throw For Dough' with an additional $9,000 on the line

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee have added a new twist with additional prize money for three events, Relays director Brian Brown has announced. 

In the Rio Olympic Games Preview women's long jump and men's triple jump competitors will 'Leap For Loot' with an additional $1,500 being awarded to the top jumper in each of the event's six rounds. Combined with the existing purse money, $15,000 in total money is now up for grabs in each of the two events.

The women's shot put field will have a similar structure as the field 'Throws For Dough.' The top mark in each of the event's six rounds will collect $1,500. Combined with the standard purse, the women's Rio Olympic Games Preview women's shot put field will also be competing for a total of $15,000 in available prize money.

The women's long jump competition is scheduled to be staged on Friday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. with the women's shot put starting at the same time as part of Hy-Vee Night at the Relays. The men's triple jump will start at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday April 30.
