DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday when the Bulldogs host Iowa at 3 p.m. at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs enter the midweek contest on a four-match winning streak and are coming off a 5-2 victory over Northern Iowa to begin Missouri Valley Conference action. Drake has been impressive in the friendly confines of the Roger Knapp Tennis Center as the Bulldogs are 8-2 at home. Senior
Maddie Johnson leads the team with a 9-3 singles record. Johnson and freshman
Joely Lomas have a team-best 8-2 doubles record.
Iowa comes to Des Moines on a six-match losing streak and is 0-5 in Big Ten play. Despite their recent woes, the Hawkeyes are 4-0 against MVC teams, beating Missouri State twice and sweeping Northern Iowa and Bradley. The Hawkeyes are led by freshman Adorabol Huckleby, who holds a 9-3 singles record.
Following the Bulldogs' match against Iowa, the team will wrap up its seven-match homestand on April 7 when it hosts St. Louis at 1 p.m.
