BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The Drake University men's golf team completed the first two rounds at the ORU Shootout on Monday at the Forest Ridge Golf Club in Broken Arrow, Okla.
"We got off to a strong start and were leading the tournament after 12 holes. After that point we really struggled. We had too many big numbers and overall we are disappointed with our score," Drake head coach
Matt Lewis said. "We know tomorrow is a new day and looking forward to bouncing back."
After recording a solid 308 to begin the day, the Bulldogs struggled in the second 18 holes of the day, registering a 319 and finished the day in 11
th-place with a score of 627 (308-319).
Freshman
Tommi Avant led the Bulldogs with a nine-over par 153 (76-77) and is tied for 31st-place. Fellow freshman
Jack Kennedy recorded the best round of the day for the Bulldogs, shooting a two-over 74 to start the 54-hole event but finished the day recording an 83 for a total score of 157 (74-83). Senior
Blake Huser finished one shot behind Kennedy with a score of 158 (80-78), while sophomore
Drew Ison registered a 159 (78-81). Sophomore
Matt Lavery rounded out the team's effort with a 165 (83-82). Freshman
Arjun Reddy scored a 161 (80-81) as an individual.
The Bulldogs will finish their regular season on Tuesday with the final round of ORU Shootout.
