Rowing Splits With Creighton On Saturday

Drake will have two weeks to prepare for its next race MACRA Championship held May 1 on Lake Harsha in East Fork Lake State Park in southern Ohio.

CARTER LAKE, Iowa – The Drake University rowing team continued its spring season Saturday morning as the Bulldogs faced the Creighton Bluejays in four races. The local rivals competed in four different races, varsity 4+, 2nd varsity 4+, varsity 8+ and 2nd varsity 8+, on Carter Lake.
 
Drake won the first two races, the varsity four and the second varsity eight, while Creighton earned victories in the varsity eight and the second varsity four.
 
The Bulldogs edged the Bluejays by more than seven seconds in the varsity 4 race and finished more than six seconds ahead in the second varsity four race. Creighton took the varsity eight race by more than eight seconds and by just over five seconds in the second varsity 4 race.
 
Following Saturday's showdown with the Bluejays, Drake will have two weeks to prepare for its next race, the Mid-America Collegiate Rowing Association (MACRA) Championship held May 1 on Lake Harsha in East Fork Lake State Park in southern Ohio.
