PONTE BUGGIANESE, Italy – The Drake University women's basketball team fell to TK Hannover, a German professional club, 77-58, Thursday (Aug. 11) in its first game of its 2016 Italy Trip.
Senior
Lizzy Wendell (Blue Springs, Mo.) scored a team-high 17 points along with pulling down seven rebounds and handing out two assists. Fellow senior
Caitlin Ingle (Runells, Iowa) scored eight points, seven rebounds and six assists. Redshirt sophomore
Becca Jonas (Independence, Mo.) scored nine points and ripped down six rebounds in her first action for the Bulldogs since missing the 2015-16 season due to injury.
Drake returns to the court Saturday evening in Senigallia, Italy with a game against the Adriatic Sea Sirens at 8:30 p.m. local time (1:30 p.m. CST).
Prior to its first game of their Italy trip against TK Hannover, the Bulldogs had a chance to walk around Florence and see its many amazing and beautiful sites. The group walked around the famous Duomo, had a walking tour around the city and finished with a visit to the Galleria dell'Accademia to take a look Michaelangelo's David.
