Women's Basketball Spends Day Two Of Italy Trip At The Vatican

This is the Bulldogs' final night in the capital city of Rome.

Tuesday was another busy day for the Drake University women's basketball team in Italy. After a solid first night of sleep after a long plane ride Sunday into Monday, the Bulldogs headed out for day two of their trip with a short drive across Rome to see one of the world's most visited sites. Vatican City State.

The entire travel party loaded the buses and made the short drive to the home of the Pope. The group was able to head right into the grounds and avoid the massive line of tourists. The group was blessed with an excellent tour guide, Latizia, who covered the Vatican's rich history while we toured the cultural and religious sites, St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums.

Following the tour of the Vatican, the team was able to split off on its own to enjoy an afternoon of free time in the heart of Rome. Tonight is our last night in the capital city of Italy with a meal set for this evening. In the morning, we will stop at the Coliseum before heading to Florence. Be sure to continue to follow our journey via #DogCiao, the trip central page and the Tumblr blog for a perspective from our student-athletes! #DogCiao
