Drake (11-4, 4-0 MVC) won its fifth-straight game on Sunday night with a 75-59 home victory over Southern Illinois. Senior
Lizzy Wendell (Blue Springs, Mo.) led all scorers with 24 points and added three steals, two assists and one block in 26 minutes.
That performance and her outstanding game in a win over Evansville on Jan. 6 earned her MVC Player of the Week honors on Monday. She has won 11 MVC Player of the Week awards in her career, a total that ranks tied for second-most in league history trailing only legend Jackie Stiles (18) of Missouri State.
Bradley is 5-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play under the direction of first-year head coach Andrea Gorski. Gorski is a former Bradley standout who spent the past three seasons as associate head coach at SIU. Leti Lerma is the Braves' lone senior on the roster this season. Lerma, a native of Muscatine, Iowa, leads the MVC in rebounding at 9.7 per game.
Following Friday's game, Drake closes the road trip at Illinois State on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m.
