SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Drake University junior Rai Ahmed-Green (Irvine, Calif.) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, Jan. 17.
 
Ahmed-Green earned the honor after winning the 400 meters at the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by Nebraska Jan. 13-14. Her time of 56.50 was just shy of her indoor personal best in the event and held off five challengers from the University of Nebraska. She also finished third in the 200 meters in 25.14 to miss a personal best in that event by just one one-hundredth of a second to best six competitors from Nebraska and Oklahoma State in the event. She won her heat in both events
 
Ahmed-Green ended her weekend by running the leadoff leg on the 4x400-meter relay that finished in second place with the seventh-fastest time in school history in 3:50.61.
 
Ahmed-Green returns to competition this Friday, Jan. 21, at the Tiger Invite, hosted by the University of Missouri.
