DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team fell to SIUE, 5-2, in the Bulldogs' season opener on Sunday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
 
Tess Herder and Kenya Williams gave Drake a chance to win the double point after a dominating 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. But the Cougars came away with the doubles point as Mia Frogner and Tiffany Hollebeck secured the point with a 6-3 win over Summer Brills and Joely Lomas at No. 1 doubles.
 
The Bulldogs found a bright spot at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.

Herder won in straight sets to give Drake its first point, defeating Mia Frogner 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2. Brills recorded the matches' final point by beating Lexi Aranda 6-4, 6-4.
 
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, Feb. 4 when they host South Dakota.
