ST. LOUIS – Freshman Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) of the Drake University women's basketball team was selected the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for the third-straight week, the league office announced Tuesday, Jan. 3.
 
Hittner averaged 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 assists while shooting 55.5 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from behind the three-point line in Drake's wins over Missouri State and Wichita State.
 
In the win over Missouri State, Hittner made 7-of-10 shots, including knocking down 4-of-5 three-point attempts to go along with a career-high five steals, four rebounds and one assist. In the win over the Shockers, Hittner scored 10 points and added three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 31 minutes.
 
Hittner is averaging 13.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in her first season as a Bulldog. She has scored double-digit points in six-straight games.
 
Drake returns to the Knapp Center Friday to host Evansville at 7 p.m.
