PEORIA, Ill. – The Drake University men's cross country team recorded its second-straight top-10 finish by coming in ninth at the annual Bradley Pink Classic, Oct. 13, at Newman Golf Course.
 
In the men's Red Race, the Bulldogs finished ninth out of 28 teams for their second top-10 finish in as many races. Drake's top five runners all finished within 58 places of each other in the top-100 of the more than 200-runner field.
 
The Bulldogs finished just ahead of former MVC rivals Wichita State and current MVC foes Loyola, UNI and Valparaiso in the team's final competition before the MVC Championship. Iowa won the men's team competition while the host, Bradley, was second.
 
Freshman Maximilian Fridrich (Salzburg, Austria) led the men's efforts with a 28^th place finish in 25:23.2 on the 8-kilometer course. Fridrich's time was a more than one-minute improvement on his previous 8k season best. Junior Josh Yeager (Center Point, Iowa) followed closely in 31^st with a 25:26.4 finish. Kyle Cass (Deforest, Wis.), Matt Cozine (Mt. Prospect, Ill.) and Kyle Brandt (Maple Grove, Minn.) completed the Bulldogs' scoring in 65^th, 71^st and 86^th places, respectively.
 
In the women's 6-kilometer race, the Bulldogs finished 22^nd out of 31 teams with senior Bailee Cofer (Overland Park, Kan.) leading a pack of underclassmen behind her. Cofer finished 87^th in 22:29.5, knocking nearly 20 seconds off her previous season best time at the distance. Sophomore Morgan Garcia (Marion, Iowa) followed in 22:45.4 to finish in 105^th place.  A pair of freshmen, Rachel Selva (Columbia, Mo.) and Elizabeth Aho (Grayslake, Ill.) finished in 112^th and 136^th places, respectively. Sophomore Olivia Rogers (Boulder, Colo.) completed the Bulldogs scoring in 187^th in the 247-runner field.
 
The Bulldogs return to competition Oct. 28 at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in Springfield, Mo.
