WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Senior
Drew Ison is even par through 36-holes to lead the Drake University men's golf team on the first day of the Zach Johnson Invitational Monday at the Glen Oaks Country Club.
Ison's even par, 142 (71-71), put him on top of the individual leaderboard. He fired a 71 to begin the day and then answered that with the best round of the afternoon, 71, in winder and tougher conditions. Sophomore
Kyle MacDonald bounced back from shooting to a 79 in the opening round to register a one-over par 72 for a total score of 151 (79-72) and is tied for 21st-place. Junior
Arjun Reddy is a stroke behind MacDonald with a score of 152 (75-77) and is tied for 25th-place. Fellow Junior
Jack Kennedy tallied a 153 (75-78), while freshman
Tim Lim recorded a 154 (74-80) to round out the team's effort.
Sophomore
Chase Wicklund, who is playing as an individual, is tied for fifth-place after shooting a career-best 68 to start the day then carding a 77 for total score of 145.
The Bulldogs started the day recording a 295 and then registered a 298 to end the day in third-place (593). Drake trails first-place South Dakota by seven strokes (586) and second-place Indian Hills CC by six strokes (587).
The Bulldogs and the rest of the 11-team field will wrap up the Zach Johnson Invitational with the final 18-holes on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
