POWELLS POINT, N.C. – Freshman
Tim Lim shot a career-best in the opening round of the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate to lead the Drake University men's golf team to one of its best rounds of the season Sunday in Powells Point, N.C.
Lim fired a two-under par 69 and its tied for 10th-place to lead the Bulldogs.
"Tim had a great round and played well from start to finish. Jack (Kennedy) also had a solid round to help lead us," said Drake head coach
Matt Lewis.
Junior
Jack Kennedy shot a one-over par 72 and is tied for 35th-place. Senior
Drew Ison carded a two-over 73, while sophomore
Kyle MacDonald registered a 74. Sophomore
Chase Wicklund rounded the team's day with a 76.
"It was a perfect day for golf and opportunities were there. We just didn't make enough birdies," said Lewis.
The Bulldogs are tied for ninth-place with Saint Joseph's and Marshall with a score of 288. Drake is just five shots from fifth-place North Dakota State and Akron, while Campbell leads the 18-team field with a score of 270.
"We should have similar weather tomorrow so we are excited to compete again tomorrow and hopefully can keep it going," said Lewis.
The second round of ODU/OBX Intercollegiate gets underway at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
