Megan Webb advanced to the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships finals on Sunday at Normal, Ill. The Bulldogs also had a pair of doubles teams move on to the championships.
Brills won the first-set 6-4 and the dropped the second-set 6-4, but came back to win the third 6-1 over Illinois State's Jelena Vujicic to move on to the Flight 2 singles final. Lomas also earned a three-set win, defeating Jana Kustkova from Illinois State 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 in the Flight 3 semifinals. Petushkova came back from being down a set to beat Missouri State's Ellie Burger, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 to advance to the Flight 5 finals. After receiving a first-round bye, Webb earned her first collegiate singles win by defeating ISU's Laura Fitzgerald 6-4, 6-0 in the Flight 6 semifinals.
Kenya Williams dropped a tough three-setter to Illinois State's Ivon Milhaleva, 6-7, 6-3, 6-1 in Flight 4. Seniors
Tess Herder and
Mela Jaglarz each won a pair of matches to earn a fifth-place finish in their respective draws.
In doubles, Williams and Petushkova advanced to the Flight 2 finals after 8-4 win over Bradley's Brandt/Wijesinghe, while Lomas and Jaglarz topped Gercar/Fitzgerald from Illinois State, 8-5, to move on to the Flight 3 championship.
The Bulldogs will look to bring home six individual titles on Monday on the final day of the MVC Individual Championships.
