Rodgers Named MVC Player of the Week for Third Straight Time

This is Rodgers’ eighth career MVC Player of the Week award.

ST. LOUIS Rebecca Rodgers (Peotone, Ill.) of the Drake University women's soccer team has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the third consecutive week, the MVC office announced Monday afternoon.

Rodgers scored two goals in a 3-0 win over Indiana State in the team's lone action of the week to extend its winning streak to six games. She has scored 11 goals this year, which is tied for the league lead. Rodgers has netted 10 goals in the past seven matches for the Bulldogs.

Rodgers is a redshirt senior forward, who missed nearly all of the 2016 season due to injury. Already Drake's all-time leading goals scorer, she has 38 career goals and 88 career points.  Her goals total ranks tied for fifth all-time in the MVC. This is Rodgers' eighth career MVC Player of the Week award.

Drake hosts UNI Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in a critical match between two of the top teams in the MVC.
