Smith earned several MVC honors this past season, including being selected the 2017 MVC Defensive Player of the Year, to the All-MVC First Team and MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team. Smith, who was also honored by the USC by being picked to its NCAA Division I Women's All-Midwest Region Third Team, scored two goals, handed out a team-high four assists and helped the defense record seven shutouts. She netted a golden goal to beat Illinois State, which clinched the MVC regular season title. This is also the first USC Scholar All-Region honor for Smith.
