ST. LOUIS, Mo. - For the first time in her career, Drake University's
Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) has been named Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week presented by Eagle Bank and Trust, the conference announced Wednesday, Dec. 13.
Hittner averaged 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 42.9 percent (9-of-21) from the floor, 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from beyond the arc and 93.3 percent (14-of-15) from the free throw line, helping Drake to a 1-1 mark during the week. She scored 18 points, behind 6-of-11 shooting, in just 18 minutes in a blowout win over Iowa Wesleyan. The sophomore added four rebounds and one assist and made all four of her free throws in the win. She followed that performance with her first double-double of the season, posting 18 points and 10 rebounds in a double overtime loss to Nebraska. Hittner ranks fifth in the MVC in scoring at 14.9 points per game. Academically, Hittner holds a 3.94 as a business studies major.
