ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Drake University's Vinny Gillespie was named Missouri Valley Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
 
Gillespie went 4-0 for the week and helped lead Drake to wins over Middle Tennessee and Omaha. At No. 1 singles, he topped MT's Gonzalo Morell and then ended his week with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Omaha's Razvan Grigorescu, who is ranked 53rd nationally. In doubles, Gillespie teamed up with Ben Stride at No.1 and put together two dominating performances, beating MT's Tom Moonen and Morell 6-1 and Omaha's Colin Buckley and Grigorescu 6-3.

Gillespie, who currently ranks 78th nationally in singles, holds a perfect 6-0 singles record and received his first weekly honor of the season on Jan. 24.

The Bulldogs return action on Thursday when they head to Madison, Wis. to take on the University of Wisconsin.
