Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) of the Drake women's basketball team was selected the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for a league-leading sixth time this season, the league office announced Monday, Feb. 20.
Hittner continues to build on an impressive first season as a Bulldog. She averaged 11.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in Drake's two big wins over Indiana State and Loyola.
Hittner scored 10 points, pulled down four rebounds, nabbed three steals, had a career-high three blocks and handed out two assists against the Sycamores. In the big win over Loyola, she recorded her fourth career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and added one assist and one steal.
On the season, Hittner is averaging 11.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting 52.0 percent from the floor, which ranks third in the conference. She leads the MVC in three-point percentage at 52.9 and free throw percentage at 85.2.
Hittner and her teammates host UNI in the program's annual Pink Game Presented by Mercy Medical Center on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m.
