Graham Woodward, a redshirt junior from Edina, Minn., has been named this week's Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Drake Graduate and Professional Programs.
Woodward, a guard for the Drake men's basketball team, averaged 18.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a pair of games on the week. He shot 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) from the three-point arc and 11-of-17 (64.7 percent) from the field. Against Bradley, he recorded a season-high of 22 points in 33 minutes, one point shy of matching his career high. He also matched a career high with five three-pointers.
In the loss against Bradley, he was 5-of-7 from the arc and 6-of-9 from the floor. He also added three assists and no turnovers in that contest. At Loyola, he led the team with 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the three-point range and had a pair of assists. In the last two weeks, he has shot 15-of-24 (62.5 percent) from the three-point range and averaged 15.5 points per game.
Academically, Woodward holds a 3.34 grade point average and is majoring in marketing.
Woodward and the men's basketball team travel to St. Louis, Mo., next for the first round of the MVC Tournament March 2. The Bulldogs open tournament play against Bradley with tipoff set for 8:30 p.m.
