Megan Sowa, a senior from Gurnee, Ill., has been named this week's Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Drake Graduate and Professional Programs.
Sowa, an outfielder for the Drake softball team, went 2-for-4 at the plate in the second game against Wichita State on March 18. She hit an early triple in the first inning, scoring freshman teammate
Mandi Roemmich for the Bulldogs' first run of the game. She later scored in the third inning after opening the frame with a single.
Sowa recorded one hit in the final game against Wichita the following day, March 19. She also scored during the fifth inning due to a Wichita State error and a wild pitch and drove in a run.
Academically, Sow holds a 3.56 grade point average and is majoring in English and secondary education.
Sowa and the women's softball team travel to Omaha, Neb. to face Creighton on March 22 at 4 p.m. Following the game against Creighton, the Bulldogs continue their road trip returning to MVC play at SIU for a three-game series on March 25-26.
