Saubert Shines at Iowa State's Pro Day

The former Drake tight end once again showed his tremendous potential, this time in front of 33 NFL scouts.

AMES, Iowa – Former Bulldog Eric Saubert showed NFL scouts what he can do at Iowa State's Pro Day inside the Bergstrom Football Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

The former Drake tight end drew the primary attention of the 33 scouts in attendance as he worked to improve his draft stock.

Saubert began is day by setting a new personal best with a 35-inch vertical jump. Then he clocked a 4.65-second 40-yard dash and a 7.29 in the three-cone drill. Saubert previously recorded an impressive 22 reps on the bench press as well as a 10-foot, 1-inch broad jump earlier this month at the NFL Combine.

After his drills, Saubert was put through a number of practice situations. He displayed his power during blocking drills and showcased his hands through a series of catching drills. He caught 34 of 35 passes thrown his way — the only one he dropped was a poorly thrown ball at his knees.

Saubert will continue honing his skills and will spend the next few weeks working out for individual NFL teams for final preparation for the NFL Draft set for April 27-29.
