Megan Sowa (Gurnee, Ill.) to beat Jacksonville, 2-1.
Drake (14-8) earned the victory over Stanford (12-8) after dropping a 9-0, five-inning game on Friday against the Cardinal.
The Bulldogs were led Sunday by senior
Kaitlyn Finneran (Morrison, Ill.) who went 3-3 at the plate with two runs batted in. Freshmen
Mandi Roemmich (West Des Moines, Iowa) and
Abby Buie (Gardner, Kan.) and junior
Tasha Alexander (Eddyville, Iowa) each added two hits and the Bulldogs finished with 12 for the game. Drake also nabbed six stolen bases, including two from Alexander.
Junior
Kailee Smith (Murrieta, Calif.) pitched 7.0 innings for her sixth win of the season (6-4). Smith gave up four runs (two earned) on nine hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Stanford took an early 2-0 lead in the third inning before Drake responded with a three-run fourth inning. Stanford answered in the sixth with a pair of RBI doubles to lead 4-3 before Finneran's double tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning.
Drake plays its final non-conference regular season tournament next weekend at the Jayhawk Invitational hosted by Kansas. Drake will play five games in Lawrence, Kan. from Mar. 10-12, opening the invitational against UMKC on March 10 at 1 p.m.
