The Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee is set to induct three standout athletes and coaches into the prestigious Drake Relays Hall of Fame during the 108
th running of the Drake Relays.
The first of those to join some of the greatest names in track and field history is legendary coach Ford Mastin.
Mastin has overseen the Oklahoma Baptist mens and women's track and field and cross country programs since 1996 and has coached his team to 43 Drake Relays titles, 35 of which have come since 2005.
In 2008, the Bison won seven events at the Relays including the men's 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800. Mastin's teams have won 10 NAIA national championships, including five women's indoor titles in a six-year period. An Oklahoma Baptist grad himself, Mastin holds a masters of divinity and master of education degrees while lettering in track with the Bison from 1973-1977.
Mastin, an 11-time NAIA national coach of the year, has led his athletes to over 400 All-America honors and is currently leading the program's transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II.
Mastin and the other two inductees, to be reveled later in the week, will be inducted to the Drake Relays Hall of Fame during a banquet on Thursday, April 27.
