CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Drake University women's golf team finished the first round of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in ninth-place on Sunday at Dalhousie Country Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
"We just had a rough day, but there were bright spots though. Sigurlaug [Jonsdittir] was one-under for her last six holes. She showed a great display of grinding it out," said Drake head coach

Freshman
Sigurlaug Jonsdottir is tied for 13th-place after shooting a 78 to lead the Bulldogs. Junior
Madison Glennie carded a 79 and is tied for 18th-place. Freshman
Aimee Gerschke recorded an 83, while sophomore
Grace Dunn shot an 85. Junior
Nicole Blanchard rounded out the team's effort with an 87.
The Bulldogs totaled a score of 325 and are in ninth-place. Drake is 10 strokes back from fifth place Loyola, while Missouri State is leading through 18 holes with a 302.
"We are staying focused on what we can control and are ready to make a move tomorrow," said Pruett.
The second round of the MVC Championship will get underway at 1 p.m. on Monday.
