CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Drake University women's golf team settled to 10th-place through 36 holes at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship on Monday at the Dalhousie Country Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
The Bulldogs recorded a 331 in the second round for a total score of 656 (325-331). Drake trails ninth-place Evansville by four strokes, while Missouri State remains on top of the leader board with a 13-stroke cushion over second-place Wichita State with a 616 (302-314).
"Today was a grind and took every ounce of mental and physical training to get through the soggy conditions. After the round we talked about what happened and now we have to put today behind us to finish the tournament strong tomorrow," said Drake head coach
Rachael Pruett.
Freshman
Sigurlaug Jonsdottir led the team for the second-straight day by shooting another six-over par, 78, for a total score of 156 (78-78) and is tied for 11th-place. Junior
Madison Glennie is still in the top-20 after shooting an 82 for a total score of 161 (79-82). Freshman
Aimee Gerschke has a total score of 170 (83-87) through two rounds, while junior
Nicole Blanchard is a shot back from Gerschke with a 171 (87-84). Sophomore
Grace Dunn capped off the Bulldogs' day with a total score of 172 (85-87).
The Bulldogs will close out the 2017 season on Tuesday with final round of MVC Championship.
