CARTER LAKE, Iowa – The Drake University rowing team defeated the Creighton Bluejays Saturday morning in the program's annual spring race on Carter Lake.
The Bulldogs and Bluejays competed in four different races Saturday morning as the Bulldogs claimed the varsity 4+ A and the varsity 8+ races to earn the overall win. The overall winner was determined by the results of the varsity 8+, 2
nd varsity + and the varsity 4+ A races. Creighton edged Drake in the 2nd varsity 8+ race and in a varsity 4+ B exhibition contest.
Drake has one more regatta, the MACRA Championship, next Sunday, April 30 in Batavia, Ohio before the team travels to Princeton, N.J. for the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship on May 12. The winner of the MAAC Championship earns the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.
