Men’s Tennis Opens NCAA Tournament Against No. 25 Illinois

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University men's tennis team learned its draw for the NCAA Tournament on Tuesday (May 2) and will open the tournament against No. 25 Illinois in Stillwater, Okla. on Friday, May 12.
 
The other two teams in the region are No. 11 Oklahoma State and UMKC.
 
It will be the third meeting between the Bulldogs and the Fighting Illini in the NCAA Tournament. The two teams previous met in 2011 and 2015 with Illinois coming out on top in both occasions.
 
The Bulldogs, who registered their second-ever tournament victory in 2015 versus Louisville, are making their 10th NCAA Championship appearance.
 
Drake was chosen to play at the Greenwood Tennis Center on the campus of Oklahoma State for the second time as the Bulldogs and the Cowboys squared off in the opening round of the 2006 tournament.
 
All-session tickets for this year's regional will go on sale Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. only by phone (877-255-4678). The tickets are $15 for all sessions, while individual day tickets will be available one hour prior to the first match of each day at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center.
