Plock Named MVC Volleyball Freshman of the Week

The Altoona, Iowa, native was also named the Titan Tournament co-MVP

Emily Plock, a newcomer on the Drake University volleyball team from Altoona, Iowa, has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
 
In her first weekend of competition as a Bulldog, Plock led Drake to the Fullerton Titan Tournament title and was named co-MVP of the four-team tournament. She finished the weekend with 44 kills, 11 blocks, 16 digs and three aces in four matches while hitting .305 in the four matches. The team went 3-1 on the weekend to win its fourth-consecutive season opening tournament.
 
In her first collegiate game, she hit .321 and registered 11 kills. She then recorded a staggering 18 kills on 39 attempts in the win over Fullerton with four blocks and hit .357 in the three-set win over Fairleigh Dickinson. She finished the weekend with nine kills and three blocks against UC Riverside.
 
Plock and her teammates will return to action this weekend at the JMU Invitational in Harrisonburg, Va. Action begins on Friday against Hampton, followed by matches against Cornell and the host, JMU.
