DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake University football team reported for fall camp in preparation for the 2017 season on Sunday. Practice begins on Monday as the Bulldogs have a handful of acclimation practices before contact begins later in the week.
After ending the 2016 season on a four-game winning streak to go 7-4 and finish third in the Pioneer Football League, the Bulldogs open season against South Dakota (Sept. 2) at Drake Stadium.

Rick Fox begins his fourth season at the helm of the Bulldog program. Fox welcomes back a strong core group, cemented by returning four starters on the offensive and defensive line. Returning honorable mention All-PFL honorees;
Mack Marrin,
Nathan Clayberg and
Tanner Evans solidifies the front four on defense while honorable mentions All-PFL picks,
Payson Wick and
Ryan Lemke anchors the offensive side. Quarterback
Grant Kraemer will settle behind an experienced offensive line after a 23-touchdown campaign that was third among PFL quarterbacks last fall.
The Bulldogs will have 18 practices before the final week of preparation for the start of the season.
