ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Drake University junior Josh Yeager (Center Point, Iowa) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, Sept. 26.
 
Yeager was Drake's top finisher at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational last weekend with a 38^th place finish in the 157- runner field that included top competition from the likes of Colorado State, Michigan State, UCAL, Minnesota and Duke.
 
His finish helped Drake come in ninth in the team standings ahead of Wyoming, South Dakota, Arizona State and North Dakota State. He completed the grueling 8-kilometer course in blistering heat with a time of 26:17.5. Despite the conditions, that time was 13 seconds faster than his fastest 8k time from a season ago.
 
Yeager has been one of the Bulldogs' top two finishers in all three of the Bulldogs' races this season and was previously named the MVC Cross Country Athlete of the Week Sept. 5.
