Drake University junior Josh Yeager (Center Point, Iowa) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday, Sept. 5.
 
Yeager led the Bulldogs in their season opener at the Hawkeye Invitational Sept. 1 with a 12^th place finish on the 6-kilometer course in 18:14.0. Yeager raced against competitors from Iowa, Iowa State, UNI and Illinois State and was the top finisher among student-athletes form the MVC. Additionally, his 6k time was the fastest in the Valley during the opening week of competition.
 
Yeager and his teammates return to competition Friday, Sept. 8, at the annual Oz Memorial hosted by the University of Minnesota.
