Drake University junior Josh Yeager (Center Point, Iowa) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, presented by Enterprise Bank and Trust Company, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Earlier in the week, Yeager was named the MVC Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
 
Yeager, a member of the men's cross country team, led the Bulldogs in their season opener at the Hawkeye Invitational Sept. 1 with a 12^th place finish on the 6-kilometer course in 18:14.0. Yeager raced against competitors from Iowa, Iowa State, UNI and Illinois State and was the top finisher among student-athletes form the MVC. Additionally, his 6k time was the fastest in the Valley during the opening week of competition.
 
Academically, Yeager maintains a 3.86 grade point average while studying rhetoric, media and social change and sociology.
 
Yeager and his teammates return to competition Friday, Sept. 8, at the annual Oz Memorial hosted by the University of Minnesota.
