Hittner Named MVC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week For The First Time

This is the second MVC Player of the Week for the Bulldogs in 2017-18. Redshirt sophomore Sara Rhine earned the honor on Dec. 4. Hittner has won a pair of MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week awards this season.

ST. LOUIS – Sophomore Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) of the Drake University women's basketball team was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career, the MVC announced Monday, Jan. 8 afternoon.
 
Hittner averaged 19.5 point, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game as she helped the Bulldogs go 2-0 on their first MVC road trip. In the Missouri State victory, Hittner poured in a game-high 24 points behind an efficient shooting performance of 6-of-10 from the floor, including making 3-of-6 from behind the three-point line, and she made 9-of-10 free throws. Hittner added six rebounds, one assist and one steal. In the victory over SIU, she scored a game-high 15 points behind another 6-of-10 shooting performance. Hittner added a career-high seven assists with seven rebounds and three steals. 
 
Hittner ranks second in the MVC in scoring at 15.4 points per game. She is fourth in the MVC in field goal percentage at 47.4 and tenth in three-point shooting at 36.9 percent.
 
This is the second MVC Player of the Week for the Bulldogs in 2017-18. Redshirt sophomore Sara Rhine (Eldon, Mo.) earned the honor on Dec. 4. Hittner has won a pair of MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week awards this season.
 
Hitttner and her teammates return to the Knapp Center to host Indiana State Jan. 12.
