ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A total of 66 Drake University football student-athletes have been named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll, the league announced on Monday.
Drake's 66 honorees were the second most in the PFL behind Dayton (71). In all, the league saw
more than 550 student-athletes recognized on its honor roll for a fifth consecutive year. Following Daytona and Drake in total of honorees was Butler (62) Marist (54), Jacksonville (54), Valparaiso (52), San Diego (52), Davidson (47), Campbell (43), Stetson (43) and Morehead (38).
Pioneer Football League athletic director and coaches established the honor roll as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. The academic honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in football at member institutions during the fall semester and posted a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the semester while enrolled full-time in accordance with NCAA rules.
Drake has had over 60 honorees each of the last six years with 65 last season, 66 in 2015, 68 in 2014, 66 in 2013, 62 in 2012 and 61 in 2011.
