DES MOINES, Iowa – Senior
Taryn Rolle (Nassau, The Bahamas) has been within striking distance of the Drake University women's triple jump record her entire career. Friday evening, she finally jumped into the record books with a wind-legal leap of 41-8.5 (12.71m) to become write her name in the Drake track & field record book.
Rolle's record-setting jump came on her third attempt as she won the event by more than six feet as one of 12 first-place performances from the Bulldogs in blustery conditions Friday on the Jim Duncan Track. Rolle also ran a leg on the team's first-place 4x100-meter relay.
The men's team swept first, second and third places in two races to highlight their afternoon.
Kundai Maguranyanga (Glen Zorah, Zimbabwe) took first in the 100 meters in 10.61 followed by
Caulin Graves (Kansas City, Mo.) in second and
Aaron Chier (Belgium, Wis.) in third with times of 10.73 and 10.75 respectively. Maguranyanga was also poised to win the 200 meters before pulling up with an apparent injury. Graves went on to win the race in 21.50.
Later in the afternoon
Malik Metivier (Toronto, Ont.),
Hudson Priebe (Chamberlain, S.D.) and
Dominic Lombardi (Columbus, Ohio) went first-second-third in the 400-meter hurdles. Metivier led the way with a time of 52.31, just off his personal best.
Many of those same Bulldogs had a hand in the team sweeping the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays as well.
The women's squad also had individual winners from
Rai Ahmed-Green (Irvine, Calif.) in the 400 meters in 57.01 and
Victoria Coombe (Centennial, Colo.) in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.72 to narrowly miss her personal best. Senior

Rachel Selva (Columbia, Mo.).
Xavier Lechleitner (Edgar, Wis.) had a win for the men's team in the 800 meters in 1:55.39.

Maxwell Harlan (Hopkins, Minn.) and
Jake Taylor finished second and third, respectively, in the javelin.
