Dunn, Glennie and Jonsdottir in Top-17 Through 36 Holes at MVC Championship

NEWTON, Kan. – The Drake University women's golf team has put three Bulldogs in the top-17 through 36 holes at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship Tuesday at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.

Senior Madison Glennie didn't finish the front-nine as well as she would have liked, as she bogeyed the final three holes to go two-over, but surged back in the back-nine to finish the round even par, 72. The Clearwater native, shaved off nine strokes from her first round to the second and is tied for 14th place with a total score of 153 (81-72).

Sophomore Sigurlaug Jonsdottir put together another solid round for the Bulldogs and leads the team through 36 holes with a score of 152 (78-74), after firing a two-over, 74, in the second round to be tied for 11th place.

Junior Grace Dunn ended her second round by parring the final seven holes to finish one-over-par, 73, and is tied for 17th place with a score of 154 (81-73).

"It was a lot of fun to watch Madison, Grace and Sigurlaug play today. They showed true toughness to put together great rounds," said Drake head coach Rachael Pruett.

Freshman Sam Paulak, who started the day tied for eighth, settled to tied for 36th after shooting an 83 for a total score of 160 (77-83). Sophomore Aimee Gerschke rounded out the team's performance with an 85 for a total score of 166 (81-85).

Dunn, Glennie and Jonsdittor combined for a three-over-par to lead Drake to a team score of 302 on the second day for a total score of 619 (317-302). Just five strokes separate fourth and eighth place as the Bulldogs settled to eighth place, but are within striking distance of fourth place Bradley.

"We had our best round of the season relative to par. It is pretty special to do that at the Valley Championship," said Pruett. "All the teams played well, so we fell back a bit, but we are still in the mix of things. I'm confident we can keep the momentum from today going into tomorrow."

Southern Illinois posted the best team score of the day with a 291 to put itself three strokes back from first place Missouri State, who has a 36-hole total of 600 (305-295).

The Bulldogs will play the final round of the MVC Championship Tuesday. The first group is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
