Drake Men’s Basketball Adds Tremell and Anthony Murphy

Twin brothers join the Bulldogs from Florida Southwestern State College

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University men's basketball team's recruiting efforts continue to progress with the addition of Tremell and Anthony Murphy.

Drake head coach Darian DeVries announced the signing of the twin brothers from Griffith, Ind., Monday, April 30.

The pair has spent the last two seasons at Florida Southwestern State College.

"We are so thrilled to have Tremell and Anthony join us and we know Drake fans are going to love their overall talent and how hard they compete," DeVries said. "They bring tremendous versatility to our lineup and we can't wait to get them on campus this summer."

Tremell, who is 6-6, averaged 16.7 points per game last season in earning junior college All-America honors and was the Suncoast Conference Player of the Year. He was ranked No. 21 in JUCORecruiting.com's 2018 Top 100 Player Rankings. Anthony, a 6-5 guard, poured in 10.4 points per game to earn All-Suncoast Conference first team honors for the second straight season after averaging 12.0 points per game in his first season.

The brothers helped lead FSW to a 30-3 record and an appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament quarterfinals.

At Griffith High School, Tremell averaged 17 points and nine rebounds per game as a senior to earn a spot in the prestigious Indiana-Kentucky All-Star Game. That same season, Anthony added 14 points and five assists per outing.
