Volleyball Associate Head Coach Accepts Head Coach Position at Eastern Washington

Flores-Cloud to take the reins of the EWU program after five seasons at Drake.

Leslie Flores-Cloud, who has been on the Drake University volleyball coaching staff for five seasons, the last two as associate head coach, has resigned her position to become the head coach at Eastern Washington University.

"Our program is excited for Leslie to have the opportunity to be a Division I head coach and for her family to return to the West Coast," said Drake University head coach Darrin McBroom. "She has played a huge role in helping rebuild the Drake volleyball program and the fact that Division I programs are actively pursuing our assistant coaches to lead their programs speaks volumes about the trajectory that Drake volleyball is on and the reputation our program has earned nationwide."

Flores-Cloud joined McBroom's staff in 2013 and helped the Bulldogs go from 2-28 that season to 23-10 in 2017. That 2017 team made history with its first Missouri Valley Conference Tournament appearance since 2010. In addition to the MVC Tournament berth, the team's 23 wins were the third most in program history and most since 2010. Additionally, the team's 12 conference wins were the second most by the program in an 18-game MVC schedule. The Bulldogs also earned a pair of first-team all-conference selections, the first time the program had accomplished that feat since 1996.

Flores-Cloud, a California native, joined the Bulldog staff after a season as the head coach at Maranatha High School in Pasadena, Calif. Prior to Maranatha, she was a graduate assistant coach at the University of Southern California in 2011 and a volunteer assistant coach at Loyola Marymount University in 2010.
