CORNING, N.Y. -- Former Drake guard
Al Stewart has signed a contract to play with the Corning Bulldogs of the American Basketball Association.
The Chicago, Ill., native set a Drake school single-season record with 174 assists last season, while averaging 7.8 points, 5.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds. He dished out a 2006-07 Missouri Valley Conference single-game high 12 assists in a home game against Missouri State.
Stewart was a two-year starter for the Bulldogs. He ranked second in the MVC in assists in 2006-07 with a 5.4 avg. and departed ranking sixth on the school career assists list at 318.
"Al is a huge signing for the team and will help in the quest to win the ABA championship in season one," said Corning Bulldogs co-owner/general manager and head coach.
