NORMAN, OKLA. - The Drake women's tennis team concluded its fall campaign on Thursday (Oct. 22) as the Bulldogs came up short in their five matches at the ITA Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional hosted by the University of Oklahoma.

After earning her spot in the main draw with a pair of qualifying round victories, sophomore Jessica Aguilera (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) was bested in the main draw by Alisa Buslaieva of Oklahoma State, 6-1, 6-0.

Sophomore Gabriela Demos (Chesterfield, Mo.) dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Marie-Pier Huet of Oklahoma, while freshman Manca Krizman (Solkan, Slovenia) rounded out singles play falling, 6-3, 6-3 against Marta Marcinkowska of Tulsa.

In doubles play, the Oklahoma State duo of Buslaieva and Iryna Khatsko defeated freshman Ali Patterson (Overland Park, Kan.) and sophomore Amanda Aragon (Fort Collins, Colo.), 8-1.

In Drake's other doubles tilt, JoAnne Karaitiana and Alexandra Kichoutkin of Tulsa bettered Demos and Krizman, 8-6.

The Bulldogs next return to the court on Jan. 30, 2010 as Drake hosts Kansas at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
