DES MOINES, Iowa - The
numbers are in and for the Drake women's soccer team it was another successful
showcase as the Bulldogs' second-annual "Kick Cancer" game on Sept. 19 raised
$1,831 for the John Stoddard Cancer Center.
In a collaborative effort between Drake and the Colorectal Surgery -
Gastroenterology Department at The Iowa Clinic to create awareness about cancer
research, the Bulldogs donated navy blue jerseys for the contest that were
auctioned off during the game, with proceeds benefiting the John Stoddard
Cancer Center.
The squad also sold memory cards that raised an additional $660 for
cancer research.
"We are very appreciative of
the support of the Colorectal Surgery - Gastroenterology Department at The Iowa Clinic partnering with us for this event and making it
such a memorable night," Drake head women's soccer coach Lindsey Horner commented. "Our evening was truly a success in
raising both funds and awareness of colorectal cancer."
The Bulldogs want to extend a huge thank you to The Iowa Clinic for its
sponsorship of the event as well as their fans for generously giving to support
cancer research.
