DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University softball team has added
Allie Timmons, a transfer from the University of Iowa, to its roster for the 2020 season. Allie is the younger sister of junior Bulldogs' pitcher Nicole and like her sister is also a pitcher. Timmons is immediately eligible after spending the fall semester at Iowa.
Timmons is from Davenport, Iowa, where she was a two-year letterwinner for Davenport Assumption. She helped Assumption win back-to-back Iowa Class 3A State titles her final two seasons. Timmons compiled an impressive 49-2 record with 318 strikeouts in her two seasons in the circle and moved into the No. 1 rotation spot for the Knights after Nicole graduated.
Timmons was named first-team all-state and to the state all-tournament team her senior year and garnered consecutive All-Mississippi Valley Conference and all-district honors to end her high school career. Timmons was a member of the Iowa Premiere Softball Club. She intends to major in business at Drake.
Timmons is one of six new student-athletes for the Drake softball team this season, joining four high school athletes and
Kristen Arias, who transferred from San Jose State this past summer. Timmons fills out a roster that has nine returners, including six starters from last year's team that won the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament titles and made the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season.
Drake starts the 2020 campaign against South Dakota Feb. 7 at the UNI Dome Tournament.
