DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University football team added 22 high school student-athletes in the NCAA's late signing period, second-year head coach
Todd Stepsis announced Wednesday, Feb. 5.
"We're extremely excited about the student-athletes we were able to attract," said Stepsis. "This day represents a lot of hard work by many people. We have a great team here at Drake University. From the coaches and our wives, to the support staff, administrative staff, professors, campus and admissions. Everyone works their tails off building relationships with these families and making Drake feel like home. Three years from now, I believe we'll look back at this class with even more positivity than we do today. Everything we needed from both a talent and character standpoint we found and our roster now is stronger than ever."
This class of 22 for the 2020 season, includes one kicker, one running back, one tight end, two defensive linemen, two quarterbacks, three linebackers, three offensive linemen, four defensive backs and five wide receivers. The group hails from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.
This group joins 14 student-athletes who signed during the early period in Nov. 2019.
