The Drake University men's basketball team concludes its two-game road swing on Tuesday with its first meeting of the season against Evansville. Tipoff at the Ford Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on The Valley On ESPN3.
The Bulldogs are aiming for their first MVC win of the season after starting the Valley season with four-straight losses to fall to 5-11 overall. The Bulldogs are also in search of their first road win of the season.
Evansville is 3-1 in the MVC this season and 14-3 overall thanks to D.J. Balentine's MVC-best 20.8 points per game and Egidijus Mockevicius's 17.1 points and NCAA best 14.5 rebounds per game.
Drake currently ranks 10th nationally in three-point percentage at 41.3 percent. However, the Bulldogs have shot 34.4 percent in their four MVC games to date. However, Evansville ranks second in the MVC in three-point percentage defense at 31.7 percent with only two teams, Murray State and Arkansas, shooting better than 40 percent from the arc against the Aces this season.
Three Bulldogs - Reed Timmer (.463) , Graham Woodward (.422) and Kale Abrahamson (.398) - rank in the top 10 in the MVC in three-point percentage. Timmer and Abrahamson also rank in the top 10 in the MVC in scoring at 16.9 and 15.0 points per game, respectively.
Evansville has won three of the last four meetings and three-straight in the Ford Center.
Following Tuesday's game, the Bulldogs return home to host SIU on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. on ESPNU.
